Eagle River Engagement Session: Katie and Dan

As we headed to the Eagle River Engagement Session at the Eagle River Nature Center, once again rain drops hit our windshield.

“We have the umbrella right?” I asked Bryan.

Then I checked my phone as we waited for the construction workers allow us to continue. This is what I saw:

This couple brings a smile to my face every time I see them, and in this case I laughed aloud in the car before even arriving to our Session. From the first time we met, Katie warned me that they were not crazy about pictures and was clear she did not like the idea of using any props. Thinking of a bicycle, balloons, pumpkins and other Pinterest-y items, I assured her we only photographed props that the clients brought and wished incorporated. As it turns out, Alaskans do not use umbrellas since it never really pours that hard; therefore, the umbrella was an unnecessary prop.

I was so relieved to have a heads up on this and maintain my prop-free coolness with Katie. ๐Ÿ˜‰ ย Katie and her New England Air Force fiancรฉ Dan are planning their wedding for this December and have been looking forward to the gorgeous green and gold Fall in Alaska to have their Engagement photos taken. This session started off in one of my favorite settings – along a trail in the richly colored fall trees.

We went out to the viewing dock where Katie managed to talk Dan into staying out of the water. ๐Ÿ˜€ It was so peaceful out there in the early evening as we watched ย the ducks, admired the beautiful landscapes, and ย talked about their upcoming Air Force Ball, Harry Potter, and cooking. Yes ladies – they cook TOGETHER. ๐Ÿ™‚

After almost 7 years of marriage to a shoe-loving wife, Bryan has an acute talent for admiring shoes. He noticed quickly that Katie and Dan had [awesome] matching shoes. ๐Ÿ™‚

As we headed back towards our cars, we stopped for our last few photos where the light was beautiful and the red brush was scattered about. Being the easy going, good sports that they are – they made there way into the brush and cozied up. I loved being around Katie’s fun-loving and hilarious personality once again. This is why they make me smile so much! The way they radiate with joy and laughter make me so excited about their Winter Wedding!
