The past few days have been a great part of our journey, even with a few glitches in our plans. Just when we were taking a sigh of relief thinking that our camper was fixed and our road tripping complications were behind us, our Volvo’s AC bit the dust. We had invested quite a bit into tuning our SUV up for this road trip so she would be ready for anything…but when the AC quit blowing cool air, we resorted to cooling the Alaska acclimated animals with ice during what became a pretty tense day of driving in the summer heat. We decided to focus on the good news – that we ran into this issue right when heading to Anaheim – a busy bustling city with a nearby Volvo Service location that fit us in right away. We also were able to drive a rental car so that our Disney plans weren’t abandoned. The not so good news was that our AC fix was almost as much as the entire initial tune up. Ewww. But that is life, and this car has taken us many many miles, so we are thankful she hasn’t left us stranded anywhere yet (Let’s not even think about that!!). We stayed at Anaheim RV Resort – which was literally 7 minutes or less from Disney, and it was so funny we could see the fireworks from our campsite the first night there. It was a really exceptional campground and we took breaks resting under the solar panel awnings enjoying California’s nice breeze or relaxing in their spa by the pool. Being born and raised near Orlando, Bryan’s family has spent many fun days at Disney World in Florida over the years…so we were excited to visit California’s Disneyland for the very first time together! We loved it! Here are a few of our favorite sites, rides, and experiences!
I highly recommend Disneyland’s night show Fantasmic – there is nothing like it -even in Orlando! If you are reading – thank you so much for suggesting it Cody and Emily! 🙂 There is something about Disney songs playing, inspirational upbeat shows, and the atmosphere of the Disney parks that brings out your inner kid and makes you smile. Watching Fantasmic and the following fireworks show was enough to make us snuggle up and take in the fun moment, even after a long day.
Our second day was spent at Disney’s California Adventures park. If you are a Disney fan and have never been out to California – you are in for a treat with this unique park! Bryan and I decided we would only use an iPhone to move a little quicker through the park since there was so much we had not seen before…but I did go back and grab the camera for our evening fun and Disney’s California Adventures’ “World of Color” show. Wow…just WOW! California Adventures is just beautiful at night, and I am absolutely in awe of the work that must have gone into creating the “World of Color” show! As for the next few days, we are heading to San Diego this morning for a super-quick Zoo trip, and are then off to Viva Las Vegas! Let the California journey continue! 🙂 If you missed our prior updates – feel free to check out our AK2VA page for all of our road tripping posts!
