I cannot tell you how I have waited for Scott and Jamie’s wedding day, and how I have waited to post their Colorado Wedding at the Granby Ranch after the honeymoon! Since our first time meeting these two and their sweet pups in Alaska for their Engagement Session, to hanging out for Oktoberfest at their place with their good friends, to visiting with them in their new location of San Antonio, the more Bryan and I have come to know Jamie and Scott, the more we realize that meeting them was truly a blessing. When arranging our flight to CO, Jamie told me “Let me know if we can pick you up from the Airport (about 2 hours from her wedding location) or let us know if you need anything at all!” After my shock and followed response telling her “Jamie! This is your wedding week! You are not picking us up for anything!” I realized this was a perfect example of the kind of people she and Scott are. They are truly the most laid back, kind and thoughtful people you’ll ever meet, and we could not be more blessed to photograph them and call them our friends.
Jamie and Scott are huge Colorado fans, so they were pretty excited to plan their wedding at the Granby Ranch – a Ski resort nestled deep in the CO mountains. The funny thing about Autumn is that – no matter how you plan, there really is no way to tell when the leaves will change considering the different weather each year. But fortunately for Jamie and Scott, the leaves in Granby reached their peak just in time for an unforgettable wedding weekend.
As I mentioned, Scott and Jamie are some of the most thoughtful people, so it was no surprise that they gave the cutest and sweetest gifts to their friends and family as well as each other.
If there is one moment that still makes me chuckle, it is Jamie and Scott’s Bride and Groom gift exchange. They did not want to see each other before the ceremony, so they sent their gifts through family and friends to be opened while they were getting ready. Jamie opened hers first….and smiled at the framed photos Scott sent of them and their cute puppies, as well as a Colorado T-shirt and beautiful card.
Then Scott opened his gift. As he began unwrapping it, he said, “I think we got each other the same thing.” Noticing the very different size and number of items, Bryan and I quietly mentioned “I don’t think so…” telling him what we photographed her opening.
“She didn’t open her other gift?” he asked. “Please go tell her there is something else she needs to open.”
We all had a good laugh at the gift surprise, and Jamie could not have been more tickled at her last gift from her loving husband-to-be. They found an amazing artist – Brianna Martray – who used to be based in Denver that paints intricate, one-of-a-kind art pieces with only her fingers and the backend of a paint brush. She really wanted a certain piece, but the artist assured her it was on hold and would be sold soon. Guess who the lucky recipient of this art piece gift was? It was amazing to see how well Scott knew his bride’s heart.
After Jamie’s sister Lauren helped Jamie get dressed and ready to walk down the aisle, we rode the chair lift to the top of the mountain over looking the most gorgeous Colorado landscape with endless rolling mountains and vibrant orange and yellow trees all around. It was truly as if the heavens had opened up to shine down just for the two of them. Colorado people are just the best…these random hikers (right below on the right) sang a congratulatory song to the Jamie and Scott as they rode the chairlift down. Then, the excitement just kept building because a deck full of their loved ones awaited their arrival with shouts and cheers. I always love those moments after the wedding ceremony…it is like all the nervous energy is gone and the Bride and Groom can enjoy the rest of their night celebrating with the people they love most. Jamie’s cocktail hour was precious; family and friends carried their custom mason jars around the outdoor deck full of people excited to congratulate the new Mr. and Mrs. – all while surrounded with that gorgeous Fall beauty and cool crisp air.
After some time celebrating and enjoying the Reception festivities, we stole a few minutes for some romantic evening portraits of the new Mr. and Mrs. Rowley. The mountains looked magical off in the distance and it was really the perfect moment for Scott and Jamie to look around and take in the excitement and beauty of the entire day. The night seemed perfect, filled with laughter and dancing…and a little magic show that had everyone astonished and laughing.
Scott and Jamie – we could not be more excited for you as you begin married life together. We wish you both a love that endures and grows with each day and hope that each year you find much to celebrate and even more to look forward to in your years ahead. This is only the beginning of your sweet story, and we are so honored to have been there to hug you and share in your beautiful joy-filled Wedding day!
