To go right to the wedding day highlight reel from Kayla and Grady’s Wedding, view this clip below! (Recap and still photos below)
I am so excited to share our whirlwind visit to my favorite state and highlights from Kayla and Grady’s gorgeous Alaskan Wedding at O’Malley’s on the Green! When Bryan and I met and photographed Kayla and Grady during their engagement this past winter, I knew we were in for something special as we looked forward to photographing their Alaska summer wedding this August. These two literally light up any room they’re in. Grady makes Kayla giggle with his wit while she brings out his sweet and fun-loving side even more so. I could not wait to get back to Alaska and plan for our part of their Big Day. Bryan and I were planning on staying at hotel in Anchorage, but our family friends Mona and Dave wouldn’t have it. Before our Cross Country Move, they insisted we check in with them prior to traveling to Alaska for the wedding. We had such a wonderful time seeing them again and resting up for the Wedding day at their beautifully renovated home nestled in the mountains of Eagle River. I almost thought it was a dream watching our cornbread-topped-chili cook in the cast iron dutch oven over the fire.
YUM! Good food warms your tummy, but great people warm your soul. I made them take a picture with us before heading off to see Kayla and Grady! 🙂
I have been looking forward to Kayla and Grady’s wedding day for months and was ready to hit the ground running when I woke up to a beautiful picture perfect day for an Anchorage wedding. While Bryan got to hang out with the men, my associate photographer Alecia and I got to admire all things pretty as the Bride and her girls got dolled up.
We headed to O’Malley’s where Kayla and the girls got dressed and finished preparing for the big day ahead.
Grady was so excited to see his bride for their First Look, and when Kayla saw Grady all of her nervous energy seemed to fade away.
Kayla is such a girl after my own heart in her love for her dogs. I could not have been more tickled that the pups made a brief appearance for a family photo before the ceremony! 🙂
I’m not 100% , but I am pretty sure it is good luck to have a beautiful red fox make an appearance on your wedding day! 😉
After family photos, Kayla and Grady relaxed with family as guests arrived. I loved that Kayla put so much thought and personality into every detail of her wedding. Everywhere you turned, there was something beautiful incorporated into her decor.
The ceremony was just beautiful and so Kayla and Grady. Grady’s father officiated (and saved Kayla from a mean bee), and Kayla and Grady read the most beautiful and touching personally written vows I have ever heard. These two have been together for 10 years now, and the love they share seems to have grown only stronger and deeper than before.
Kayla and Grady could not wait to relax and celebrate with their loved ones after the ceremony. Kayla changed into an absolutely exquisite Reception gown, and everyone was ready to feast, dance and party the night away in the stunningly decorated reception hall.
One of my very favorite things Kayla did was incorporate a variety of interactive stations for guests to get involved in. Children had their own activities at a table just for them, and family and friends of the Bride and Groom enjoyed contributing to special keepsakes for Kayla and Grady.
The personalized flip-book station really brought out the best in everyone!
They made guests laugh and made for a great wedding keepsake for guests in a matter of minutes.
And the candy looked delicious! It was definitely a hit and made for a wonderful wedding favor!
After there were drinks poured, toasts made, and dinner served, Kayla and Grady danced for the first time as husband and wife…followed by a sweet Father-Daughter and Mother-Son dances.
I still smile as I remember how in love and filled with joy Kayla and Grady were when we took some sunset photos by their elegant wedding gazebo and among Alaska’s always amazing backdrop.
Kayla was too cute and carefree, and her bare feet make these photos simply adorable to me. 🙂
(Of course Bryan took my favorite photo as he often does, so I saved it for last!)
After some fun in the setting sun, we headed back in to continue the party!
Kayla and Grady, I cannot tell you how special it was to watch you two promise forever to one another, and I am honored that we were able to be there to share in the celebration of your love! Best wishes as you continue to be each other’s one and only, and may each year be sweeter than the last!
