Congratulations to Michele and Noshad who celebrated their Alaska Destination Wedding at Alyeska Resort in Girdwood Sunday, June 16th!
Last winter, Bryan and I had the pleasure of meeting Michele, Noshad and Michele’s Mom at a wedding consultation at Kaladi Brother’s coffee shop. Michele had accompanied Noshad from time to time when he would fly up for business from Virginia and the two fell in love with the idea of choosing Alaska as their Wedding Destination. The months between our first meeting and June seemed to fly by. Before long, we were exchanging timelines and corresponding about final details. Michele and I met Thursday prior to the wedding where I had the pleasure of meeting one of her bridesmaids Afsaneh, or “Affy” for short. It was so good to meet Affy and to catch up with Michele. There is nothing like the excitement the week of your wedding!
The Wedding day weather was truly unbelievable. Bryan and I arrived early to scout out lighting and locations for the day ahead. We also had the pleasure of meeting Wedding Planner Amanda Talyat with Alaskan Elegance as she worked hard to get each detail of the Wedding Decor in place. I met Michele, her family and the girls as they got ready at a really cool rental home with a stream running through the middle while Bryan photographed the men getting ready at the hotel. While the girls are usually focused on getting ready and staying on time, guys generally are relaxed and seem to have a little too much fun while getting ready. One of the Groomsmen brought a horse head for laughs – you just have to see it to understand. Bryan was trying to tell me about it and I could not imagine it until I busted out laughing when loading his images to our computer.
Michele and Noshad chose to have a “First Look” where the two of them could have a private moment to see each other prior to the ceremony and without the company of surrounding wedding guests. Bryan brought Noshad to a location we chose earlier and Michele and I headed their way. As Michele walked up behind Noshad, I watched all Michele’s nervousness melt away with a beautiful smile in it’s place. Bryan and I backed away and let them have that moment to themselves while quietly clicking away. Noshad shared a note he had written to Michele and the excitement of the moment began to soak in for both of them. Afterwards we photographed the two of them followed by their Family and Wedding Party Photos.
After a beautiful and perfect Ceremony, Michele, Noshad and their wedding guests all enjoyed Cocktail hour in The Pond Courtyard followed by their Reception in the Kahiltna Court. I really loved the elegant yet personal touches Michele incorporated into her wedding day. Each Bridesmaid wore a Coral Rose with their little black dress that was handmade by Michele. They also carried a coral shawl. Since it was Father’s Day, Michele displayed a “Happy Father’s Day” Sign with four framed ties. To commemorate their Alaska Wedding, Michele requested each guest sign a wooden puzzle piece that together would create the State of Alaska as a wedding day keepsake guest book alternative. Because Michele loves dogs and owns her own Doggie Day Care, each Centerpiece included a wine bottle holding a photo with her Dog wearing the Table Number. After dinner was served, toasts were made, and cake was cut, the dancing began! After a beautiful and sweet first Dance between Bride and Groom and Michele and her Dad, everyone got out on the Dance floor and a beautiful blending of cultures took place as all guests jumped out on the dance floor. We later rode with Michele and Noshad up the mountain on the Tram to get a few more photos of the Bride and Groom before concluding the evening.
A wonderful thing about weddings for us is the fun we have meeting the family and friends of our couples. But not too often do we have the opportunity to see everyone again. We were so excited that Michele and Noshad chose to have us at their next day wedding brunch where family and friends continued to celebrate and enjoy the outstanding Alaska sunny summer weather. Bryan and I brought some Wedding Day Previews along for everyone to enjoy and we enjoyed visiting with everyone again. Michele, Noshad and their family make you feel like family. We also had the priviledge of viewing the big finale of their Wedding Night – with everyone (including the horsehead 😉 dancing the Harlem Shake).
We are so happy to have met Michele, Noshad and their wonderful family and friends, and hope to keep in touch for the years to come. Congratulations Michele and Noshad! May this be just the beginning of many more happy years together! Scroll down to preview a few images from Michele and Noshad’s Wedding Day!
