It is your 30th Birthday, and I guess it is only natural to not be thrilled about this one. But I am over-the-moon excited to celebrate you today. In these past 30 years, you have grown from being the mischievous little boy who ran and hid from his parents at shopping malls and Disney parks (later sentencing you to being the child on a leash – can you blame his poor parents? :-P) to the boy who convinced his buddies that peeing on a fire they accidentally started in a field would solve their dilemma… from the punk little brother who lodged ice at his sister’s head after telling her to “Run!” to the apple of his big sister’s eye in the years that followed, from the fun-loving Orlando boy to the responsible college student and ministry leader, from the boy wearing khakis to the man wearing the camo uniform, and from the 21 yr. old boy of my dreams to the man of my dreams you are today. You have grown into a strong, loyal, compassionate, hardworking man who has truly been a gift to me and to so many as you walked through life.
I am not celebrating the fact that you’re “old” (although I will always hold it over your head that I am younger 😛 ), but I want to celebrate the amazing 30 years of life you have lived. You have been all over the world from Malaysia to Afghanistan, from Alaska to Taiwan and Hawaii, and you have never been afraid to venture out on the edge or to dream about the future, even when I try to hold you back in my comfort zone. These past years have been wild and crazy and such an adventure, and I am so happy to be your wife along for this wild ride of life. So here is to the 30 years God has blessed you with…years full of challenges that shaped you, people who impacted you, and the memories that have been made. May today be a day of being grateful for all of your blessings and may year 30 be just as incredible and even more adventurous as the years past!
